| Counseling, Psychological, and Social Services |
The Counseling, Psychological and Social Services component includes services provided to improve students' mental, emotional, and social health. These services include assessments, interventions, and referrals. Organizational assessment and consultation skills of counselors and psychologists contribute not only to the health of students but also to the health of the school environment.
Below are example strategies that support Counseling, Psychological and Social Services as part of the Coordinated School Health Model:
- Coordinate and integrate counseling, psychological, and social services with other components of coordinated school health
- Establish a system to identify students who are at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence
- Promote collaboration with teachers and counseling staff to teach topics such as teen drinking and drug abuse, suicide, violence, and unintentional injuries
- Offer bullying education and character education to all K-12 students
